St George's Terrace, Jesmond, Newcastle, NE2 2DL
JMC has three upstairs rooms that are available for business meetings, conferences, seminars and community groups. The Studio and Jes Space are located above Cafe 1901 and accessed via the main stairs from the Cafe entrance. The Seminar Room is accessed from the rear of the building, through the Cafe 1901.
We welcome bookings on an hourly basis or for half day and full day events and evenings, Monday to Saturday, 9.00hrs-23.00hrs. Facilities for long term office lettings are not available.
Please note that we have no lift up to our meeting rooms, so accessibility may be an issue for some kinds of meetings/events. There is also very limited space in the entrance lobby for buggies and prams.
This room is suitable for groups from 10-50 (approximate dimensions are 25ftx27ft). It is a flexible space in which chairs and tables can be arranged according to purpose, whether it is a meeting, a conference, a workshop, or exercise space.
Organisations that have used The Studio include Oxfam Books and Music for local and regional meetings; The Sepanta Cultural Foundation; Northumbria Police Authority, Northern Architectural History Society; and The Textile Hub.
We have had dance groups in the Studio, during the Jesmond Community Festival, as well as a music gig (The Edison Project).
Access to toilets is down a rear staircase to the ground floor.
This room is set up informally with sofas and coffee tables. It is a friendly space for one to one meetings or small groups up to 10 or 12 people (approximate dimensions are 24.5ftx15ft). There is a small kitchen with fridge and microwave and a single unisex toilet.
It is used by our handicraft group, Jes Craft, on a weekly basis. It is ideal for small groups and informal discussion groups rather than formal meetings.
This room, recently refurbished, is ideal for more formal meetings for 2-10 people, located at the rear of the building, and accessible through the Cafe 1901. It contains a conference/meeting table with 10 comfortable chairs (approximate dimensions are 15.5ftx13.5ft).
The Seminar Room has been used for a six week Business Link course and for one off meetings by small businesses and professionals.
Access to toilets is down the rear staircase to the ground floor.
