Jesmond Blessings

For several years, we have been blessing our community of West Jesmond at least once a week, with the ‘Jesmond Blessings’. These are based on the Friday Blessings, Ffald-y-Brenin Christian Retreat Centre. See http://www.ffald-y-brenin.org/.

“In the Name of Jesus, we bless our Community in Jesmond and its relationship with the City of Newcastle upon Tyne.

We speak out blessing, health, prosperity and fruitfulness into all the people who live here, either permanently or temporarily – residents, students, visitors – in houses, flats, retirement & rest homes and hotels.

We bless the health of the people who live here that they may be strong and well. In Jesus’ Name, we resist any sickness or disease that seeks to invade this area and to every person we say, be well, be strong, be healthy. To anyone who is sick right now, we bless you in the Name of Jesus with a speedy recovery. To anyone who is troubled, depressed, stressed, we bless you and say, be at peace.

We bless the doctors, dentists and other health related practitioners in our community, that by their ministries the health of the community may be promoted and your creation glorified.

We bless the businesses and organisations in our locality, and their staff and customers. We bless every wholesome enterprise that is conducted by them, that it may prosper and be successful.

These organisations include: Shops, Cafes, Pubs, Restaurants, Takeaways, Hotels, Banks, Post Office, Pharmacists, Social Clubs, Cricket Club, Tennis Club, Jesmond Leisure, Community Library, Clubs and Societies, Hairdressers, Travel Agents,  and The Metro.

We bless the local schools that they may be secure, safe places for teachers, assistants and pupils.  We bless the children’s capacity to learn and develop relationships.  We bless the students in our community that their studies will be successful and that their time in Newcastle may be transforming and fulfilling.

We speak to the Churches in Jesmond and we bless them in the Name of the Lord that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God may flow out from them in power.  We bless the hearts of all who live here that they may be quickened to hear and respond to the Voice of the Living God.

Amen”
